Everyone knows facebook is getting to be a way of life.
Fewer and fewer people these days are still using Myspace, everyone moving to facebook, everyones getting connected, 20% of relationships now have started using a social network .
Another big thing now is Mobile Alerts, Some people never have to sit down at their computer for the full experience of facebook. So many people now are using 3g/4g phones that can let you browse freely, or even apps for an apple product that allow you to manage your facebook.
So today I was thinking, thats great and all, but when I walk into a social gathering of some kind, I cant really get to know people easily like on facebook, I cant look at a profile and get all the answers to those awkward questions like if they drink/smoke, When I walk into a big meeting where I dont know everyone, I want something to tell me who they are.
So I thought of this idea. To be carrying a mobile profile. An application in a phone that connects to a server, that is similar to most social networks these days, but with a Mobile Profile, that users can type a little something about themselves, which will broadcast within a certain range within a "Host" user.
Say you and your friends show up to a party, The one throwing the party has a Mobile Profile and is currently a "Host" You can get basic info from anyone at that party with a mobile profile, and find who you have things in common with, as well as what they look like (so you can find them at the 'social event') and where they live (if they decide to include / broadcast that info)
Mobile Profile will also feature basic messaging, friending, and posting of when users will be "hosting" events.
Now the hosting seems it will be confusing with multiple hosts, but chaining hosts together will simply extend the range of the Mobile Profile if the user decides to chain to the hosts profile, which will be displayed as an option to chain, or just be a new hosted event.
This would surely forward social gatherings, creating less awkward situations of trying to converse with someone you have absolutely nothing in common with.
